Just a reminder for those local – and local-ish.  The December meeting of the Nutmeg Spinners Guild is this Saturday, December 10 from 9 to 3 at St. John’s Church in West Hartford.  The theme of this meeting is “Our Gift to You” – rather than having a mentor and formal program, we’ve planned a spin in and luncheon.  We all need a day away to relax at this time of year, so we’re treating Guild members to just that – a day with friends and good food.  It promises to be a lovely day.

I will not be having a booth at this meeting – just not enough time to get everything together after coming home on Friday.  Instead, I will be at the meeting to spin – for the first time since the last meeting, work on a knitting project for me and relax among some of my favorite people in the world.  As much as I love having a booth, its also my little gift to me by making my day a little more low key.  Just what I need!

Just a little reminder about this Saturday – the first Nutmeg Spinner’s Guild Meeting of the year.  I’m very much looking forward to it.  We’re in a new location – at St. John’s Episcopal Church in West Hartford.  I was over there on Saturday, doing some stuff to get ready for the year and organize after our move there.  The space is bigger but yet cozier than the college was and quite beautiful.  The folks there have been very accommodating – a lovely experience so far.  We have a great program planned, with Chris Morgan of Woolybuns, talking about angora and angora bunnies.  She’s even going to shear one for us and will have baby bunnies for sale (note to self – I do not need a bunny.  I have no place to put a bunny.  Bunnies poop and pee and smell a bit funny and are lots and lots of work.  Do. Not. Need. Bunny. no matter how freakin’ cute they are).  Anyhoo, Chris will be there and we will spin angora and learn about bunnies – and maybe you (not me) can go home with one.  This is also my first meeting since taking over as President of the Guild and I have lots of exciting things to announce.

And of course, I will have a booth at the meeting, filled with colorful yarn and roving for fall, including my newest addition – superfine merino roving.  Its super soft and takes color beautifully – lovely stuff!

Our meeting runs from 9 to 3.  More information can be found here.  Hope to see you there!

Nutmeg Spinner’s Guild is tomorrow – Saturday, February 5.  In the craziness of this week, I forgot to post it here.  Its our Fundraising Auction – this year with a new twist — all of the Auction items will be either an item made by a Guild member or a service related to some skill or talent they have (think gardening and painting and all manner of fiber arts lessons and so many other wonderful things!).  I’ve been busy in the kitchen tonight, making caramels for the Auction.  I’m also throwing in a dye lesson to be auctioned off.  Full details on the meeting can be found here.

And keep your fingers crossed that the next round of “weather” headed our way doesn’t interfere.  If Asnuntuck closes, the meeting’s off.  Here’s hoping for a late start to the storm and a great day!

Its that time again!  The December meeting of the Nutmeg Spinner’s Guild is this Saturday from 9 to 2:30 at Asnuntuck Community College in Enfield, CT.  I’m super excited about the mentor for this meeting.  We have the wonderful Barbara Clorite-Venture coming from MA to teach us about Spinning Superfine Yarns.  It promises to be a great program.  Truth be told, I’ve been putting off starting to spin the Foxhill Farm Cormo/Tussah/Alpaca blend I have for my Kousa Dogwood Shawl for a couple of months until this workshop.  I want to get all of Barbara’s tips and tricks before I start spinning it up.

Of course, I will have a booth full of Painted Sheep yarns and fibers, along with Knitspot patterns at the meeting.  Hope to see you there!

More details on the meeting can be found here.

The Nutmeg Spinner’s Guild has its first meeting of the year on Saturday.  Always a great day, this meeting will focus on spinning wheels, old and new.  We’ll have two mentors – one focusing on antique wheels and one focusing on modern wheels.  It promises to be a fun and informative meeting.

Of course, I’ll be there with a booth full of Painted Sheep goodies.  There’s lace weight and sock yarn, a little bit of BFL roving, merino superwash roving and merino tencel roving, along with a nice selection of Knitspot patterns.

Hope to see you there!

Just a note about my Etsy shop – it will be closed until Sunday while I’m at the Guild.

Even though I can’t quite believe I’m saying this, the December meeting of the Nutmeg Spinner’s Guild is this coming Saturday.  The mentor for this meeting is silk expert Michael Cook.  He’ll be doing a workshop on silk reeling.  Of course, The Painted Sheep will have a booth full of fibery goodies – yarn, fiber and Knitspot patterns.   It promises to be a great meeting.  Hope to see you there!

I’m off to spend my afternoon spinning and knitting.  I have one more of the lovely Extreme Spinning batts to spin up into singles this afternoon.   My nephew’s sweater is moving along quickly – I’ve already got a kangaroo pouch to pick up and knit!  Nothing like a little fiber to end a long holiday weekend on a nice, relaxed note.

Enjoy your day!

Just a reminder that the first meeting of the year for the Nutmeg Spinner’s Guild is this Saturday, October 3.  The meeting runs from 9 to 3 at Asnuntuck Community College in Enfield, CT (directions here).  Robin Russo will be our mentor, doing a presentation on fiber preparation.  The first meeting of the year is always a great one – time to see all those people you haven’t seen all summer, meet some new folks and get into the swing of fall season.

I’ll be there, with a booth full of Painted Sheep goodness and my long-neglected spinning wheel.  I’ll be closing the Etsy shop on Friday afternoon for the weekend.  My plan (as usual, subject to change) is to re-open sometime on Sunday with a big update of yarn and fiber that I dyed at the end of the summer.  I’ll keep you posted.

Hope to see you there!
