destashing

Yep, its that time again – time to purge the stash.  I’ve been going through the stash, contemplating what to play with during the upcoming furlough week I have, in order to make the best of an otherwise lousy situation (in other words, I can’t afford to do anything other than stay home and knit while I have to take a week off without pay).  I’m thinking in terms of projects I can complete in a week.  And I keep running into the same thing – stuff I’ll just never use.  And I won’t lie – much as I know I’ll be OK, the reality of a week of just an unemployment check hurts.  Destashing all that stuff I know I won’t use makes a whole lot of sense.  There’s good stuff in here – Malabrigo, Classic Elite, some hand dyed yarn and some luxury stuff – everything is below and will be marked as pending and then deleted as it goes.  For additional information on each, see my Ravelry destash page.

The rules by which you must play:

  • Most items are grouped by lot.  Lots can’t be broken up.
  • Priority Mail shipping within the US is included in the price.  I will not ship by other means, nor can I reduce the shipping cost.  International shipping – email me and I’ll let you know the cost.
  • Items are first come, first serve.  If you are interested in purchasing, email me at kris@thepaintedsheep.com.
  • Payment is by Paypal only.  I will send you an invoice, generally within 12 hours of the receipt of your email indicating interest.  Payment must be made within 24 hours of my sending the invoice or the lot will be relisted/go to the next person who has expressed interest.

Here goes!

Lot #1 Briggs and Little Heritage, 8 skeins (sweater quantity) Briggs and Little Heritage in Brown Heather $40

Lot 4: Berroco Ultra Alpaca, 10 skeins in Denim, $80 (retails for $10 per skein)

Lot 5: Lorna’s Laces Lion and Lamb, 4 skeins in Sand Ridge $100 (retails for $34 per skein)

Lot 7: Luxury Yarns – 2 skeins Classic Elite Fresco, 2 skeins Debbie Bliss Pure Silk and 1 skein Lobster Pot yarns Cashmere: $60

That’s all of it.  There are a few fibers listed on my Raverly Destash page as well, if you are interested.

Wednesday morning update – I’ve deleted everything that’s sold.  There’s still some great yarns left.  I will be listing a couple more small lots of yarn and fiber this weekend – I actually forgot to list stuff that I wanted to destash all along.  Thank you all for your purchases!

That urge to purge was strong – I culled 50+ yarns and fibers from my (still massive) stash.

The rules by which you must play:

  • Most items are grouped by lot.  Lots can’t be broken up.
  • Priority Mail shipping is included in the price.  I will not ship by other means, nor can I reduce the shipping cost.

That’s it.  More info on each can be found on my Ravelry Sale or Trade Page.  Fibers first!  Scroll down past the fibers for yarns.

I promised more was coming!  This time around, I’ve got yarn and books for you.  Basically, its the same deal as last time:  I’ve divided both books and yarn into lots.  The lots can’t be broken up (in other words, you have to buy the whole thing, not a portion of it).  Rather than provide details on each and every yarn, I’ve linked to Yarndex, Ravelry or the manufacturer to provide information on yardage, suggested gauge, etc wherever I could.  For books, I’ve linked to Amazon for information on each.  Here are the other knitty-gritty details:

  • To purchase, email me at kris@thepaintedsheep.com with the Lot # you are interested in (make sure you note whether its books or yarn you are interested in).  Everything is first come, first serve.  I will mark items sold as payment for them is received.
  • Payment is through Paypal only – I accept all forms.  I will send you a Paypal invoice from which to pay within 12 hours of receiving your email.  Payment must be made within 24 hours of the time I send the invoice.  If payment is not received within 24 hours, I reserve the right to cancel the sale and offer the yarn to the next person who has expressed an interest.
  • Shipping on books: shipping within the US is included in the cost.  I will ship either Media Mail or Priority, depending on the size of the grouping (my discretion).  Shipping outside of the US is additional – please email me.
  • Shipping on yarn: All shipping is via Priority Mail within the US.  Shipping costs are $5 for the smaller lots and $10 for the larger lots.  Anyone outside the US, please email me for shipping cost – again Priority Mail flat rate.  Please understand that while the cost seems high, using Priority Mail flat rate shipping is simply the best, most cost effective option I can offer.  Items will ship the business day after cleared payment is received.  Unfortunately items are not available for local pick up nor are shipping options negotiable.
  • All items are from my personal stash and are final sale.  Everything comes from a smoke free, cat friendly environment (the cats are kept away from the stash, but please be aware).

Note: as of 2/21, I’ve edited this list down to just what remains.  I’ll leave it up for a few more days, then it goes up on eBay.  All of the following are in good to excellent condition.  Many are like new.  A few have notes or circles in the patterns that I used.

Book Lot 3 – Big Needle Knit Afghans and The Little Box of Knitted Throws: $15

Yarn Lot 4 Luxury Yarns: 1 skein Plymouth Alpaca Prima in 302 deep brown, 2 skeins Elizabeth Lavold Angora in color 017 Smoky, 1 skein Great Adirondack Silky Sock in Moonbeam and 1 skein Foxhill Farm 65% wool, 35% silk in Autumn Glory (about a light worsted weight, 255 yards). $45, shipping $5

Yarn Lot 10 Elsebeth Lavold Cotton Patine: 2 bags (20 skeins) in color 3 Driftwood.  $30 per bag plus $5 shipping or $50 for both bags plus $10 shipping.

Yarn Lot 11 Harrisville Designs Heathered Bulky: 4 skeins in Cocoa.  $8, shipping $5.

That’s the lot of it.  Once this gone, that’s it for now – I’ll be down to a much more reasonable (read: moveable) stash.  Email me if you are interested in any of it: kris@thepaintedsheep.com

First off, thanks to all who have purchased yarn from my destash sale.  I am now 2 full bins lighter in the stash and a bit more comfortable in the savings account.  Both are a bit of a relief.  There are a few things left.  Rather than continously update the other post, I’m relisting them here with a couple of changes:

Lot #2 Lopi: 13 skeins total.  8 skeins in oatmeal #85, 2 skeins in red 389, 2 skeins in navy 118, 1 skein in deep brown 53.  Enough for a large/xl men’s sweater.  $40, shipping $10.  I am also willing to sell the oatmeal skeins separately from the other colors – $25 plus $5 shipping for the oatmeal, $15 plus $5 shipping for the others.

Lot #5 Elsebeth Lavold Cotton Patine in Driftwood (tan): 20 skeins in color 3.  Also included in this lot are 2 skeins of Elsebeth Lavold Angora, no color listed but its similar to the Driftwood.  $85, shipping $10.  This lot could be split up – 1 bag (10 skeins) of Cotton Patine plus the 2 skeins of Angora for $45 plus $5 shipping and the other bag of  Cotton Patine for $40 plus $5 shipping.

Lot #9 Green Mountain Spinnery Yarn Over: SOLD

Lot #12 Harrisville Designs Heathered Bulky: 4 skeins in Cocoa.  $12, shipping $5.

Lot #16 Farmhouse Yarns Single Ply Worsted in Lilac: 2nd lot of this yarn.  This lot is 5 skeins of the lighter colorway.  $35, shipping $10.

Lot 18 Alpaca Yarn Variety Pack: Sale fell through so here’s your chance!  7 skeins of gorgeous alpaca yarns: 1 skein Burgis Brook Alpacas Fingering Weight (about 250 yards), 1 skein Misti Alpaca Lace Handpaint in color 10 (reds and browns), 1 skein Misti Alpaca Lace 2 Ply in color 605/Khaki, 2 skeins Misti Alpaca Sport in color NT 408/deep brown and 2 skeins Frog Tree Alpaca Sport Weight in black.  $30, $5 shipping.

I will refer you back to the beginning of this post for details on payment, shipping, etc.

There is absolutely more to come – I need to go through the stash again and pair it down some more.  That’s likely to come in the next few weeks.  What I will put up early this week are books – there’s a stack waiting in the dye studio.

As for what else remains – sadly, none of my vacation.  I go back to work tomorrow.  Much as I love my job, this week, largely at home, was wonderful.  Something I could definitely get used to.  I did a bit of “work” – Painted Sheep stuff, cleaning out of the house, the destash – other than the cleaning out, none of it felt like work.  My week was relaxed and low key, with plenty of time for family and friends, tons of knitting time and best, almost daily naps in my favorite spot with my boys.  The only thing I didn’t get to do was dyeing – that will come this weekend.

In the meantime, I will get back to my routine, “suffer” through and buy another Powerball ticket…

At last here it is – the destash that I’ve been alluding to for the last several months.  For these yarns, I’ve divided them into 20 lots for sale.  Some are all the same yarn, some are mixed groupings.  The lots can’t be broken up (in other words, you have to buy the whole thing, not a portion of it).  Rather than provide details on each and every yarn, I’ve linked to Yarndex, Ravelry or the manufacturer to provide information on yardage, suggested gauge, etc wherever I could.  Here are the other knitty-gritty details:

  • To purchase, email me at kris@thepaintedsheep.com with the Lot # you are interested in.
  • All shipping is via Priority Mail within the US.
