colorways and contests

We have winners!  Let me tell you, this was not an easy choice.  There were more than 60 suggested names, all incredibly creative.  You made my task both difficult and a lot of fun.  That said, I now have three colorways with new names:

Colorway 1: Fool’s Gold, suggested by Melissa.

Colorway 2: Mermaid’s Tail, suggested by Carole.

Colorway 3: Pomegranate Tea, suggested by Sarah.

There was one more winner, as I promised to choose a random entry to win an additional Gift Certificate.  That winner is Liz!

Now that I’ve done some “work” this morning, I’m off to taste wine and buy yarn.  Everyday should be this hard 

Just a reminder that there’s only a few more hours to enter the Name that Colorway Contest.  Entries have to be in by 11 pm EST tonight.  I’ll announce the winners early tomorrow morning.

Those new names are coming just in time – I spent part of my day dyeing up sock yarn in the new colors.  Not a whole lot – just 8 skeins, part of a cone of sock yarn that was leftover from my last big order.

Other than a little dyeing, its been a very low key black Friday.  Having no desire to be anywhere near a store on this crazy shopping day, I stuck close to home.  A little dyeing, a little Christmas decorating (the outside lights and our reindeer are up!) and a little online shopping made for a perfectly relaxed day.  We’re saving our big plans for the weekend for tomorrow – we’re heading out to the CT Wine Trail.  We’re doing the “western trail”, which runs North to South, parallel with the New York border.  It promises to be a great day, with great wine tasting, a scenic drive and even a yarn shop or two…  I’l be picking names and announcing contest winners before we head out in the morning…

My recent attempts at subtle have given me 7 wonderful new colorways.  Four have names but I’m left with 3 brand new beautiful and nameless colorways, all dyed up and ready to go.

I think its time to have a little fun in the midst of this crazy holiday week.  Fun that involves prizes.  Prizes of The Painted Sheep variety!

Here’s the deal: I’m posting pictures below of my three nameless colorways.  Use the comments to suggest names for them – you can suggest names for just one, or two, or all three.  Suggest as many names as you’d like for each one.  Let’s get creative!  Just make sure that you indicate which colorway you are naming (i.e. Colorway 1: _____).  You have until 11 pm EST on Friday, November 28 (aka Black Friday) to make suggestions.  On Saturday, I’ll choose the name I like best for each colorway.  The person who suggested the winning name will get a $25 Gift Certificate to The Painted Sheep’s Etsy shop.  And yes, there’s potential for you to win more than one gift certificate!  You never know, I may go with more than one of your suggestions!  There will be a total of 3 prizes for this portion of the contest.  Each prize consists of a $25 Gift Certificate to The Painted Sheep’s Etsy Shop.  One prize goes to each person who suggested the name I choose for each colorway.  If more than one person suggests the same name for a colorway and I choose that name, the winner will be the person who suggested it first.  Please note that the three winning colorway names and therefor the three winners for this portion of the contest are picked entirely at the discretion of The Painted Sheep (that’d be me).  After I choose the new names and their corresponding winners for each colorway, the remaining entries will get put in a hat and I will randomly draw one more name.  The winner of this random drawing will also $25 Gift Certificate to my Etsy Shop.

Colorway 1: Two BFL rovings in this nameless colorway – they vary slightly but will likely have more of the green tones like the one on the left.

Colorway 2: Two BFL rovings in this nameless colroway.  The colorway tends to go a little darker than the one on the right, closer to the one on the left.

Colorway 3: Again, two BFL rovings in this nameless colorway.  The left is darker and the colorway tends go toward the darker shade.
