Call it an act of desperation – life was throwing me a curveball (or 3) and I missed my knitting, so I tried something different on Saturday morning – straight needles and big yarn. and it worked! I wedged the needle between my cast and last 2 fingers, which minimizes the pinching/gripping involved and I’m able to knit. It is admittedly, like many other things in my life right now – slow, awkward and it doesn’t last long.
that little experiment lead to this -
that’s the start of my Rhinebeck sweater. it just so happened to call for big yarn and straight needles (which I’d have forgone in favor of circs if not for this injury). this little bit of knitting took hours and several starts and stops. a little frustrating but still – I’m *knitting* and this is making me happy. to be honest, it was a bright spot in an otherwise crappy weekend. knitting over coffee on Sunday morning felt remarkably normal, something I desperately needed.
I see my doctor on Thursday for follow up x-rays. lets keep the fingers crossed for good news.
